Description

Interim Project Manager, part China based, for a large electrical machines company developing a China factory presence

Achievements:

  • Completion of the feasibility study

  • China business licence obtained in 12 weeks to enable the opening of bank accounts (advice received indicated 9 months required)

  • Wrote, prequalified, tendered, negotiated and awarded the £3.5M factory project construction management contract

As Interim Project Manager, I completed (for a corporate decision) the technology transfer feasibility study from Europe to China for a 15,000m2 factory to produce large electrical rotating equipment.

Once a positive decision had been made, I structured, developed and drove all activity (including working with various China state bureaux) to achieve a China Business Licence, something that was completed in 12 weeks (the local advice was nine months).

For the China factory construction project management contract, I identified and prequalified potential contractors, constructed tender documents, ran the tender process, negotiated terms and the scope to award.

The £3.5M contract was awarded to (and latter successfully delivered by) an international company long established in China.
