Interim International Projects Director, China-based in an SOE, transferring 2MW technology from Germany

  • Developed and implemented a complete assembly concept for nacelles and hubs

  • As production authority, responsible for factory tooling, logistics, training, supervision

  • First of type build started within 16 weeks, build completed in 5 weeks

  • Quality and compliance achieved (successful factory and field commissioning)

As Interim International Projects Director for a technology licence transfer from Germany to China, I was based in China and developed a complete concept for intermediate volume assembly of nacelles and hubs for a new CATUM “Wind-Drive” based machine.

I produced a full work breakdown structure, assembly programme, resource requirement, lay out and tooling requirements.

I created tooling detail and all other production requirements, instructing purchase on these and all related orders.

I introduced basic project management tools, created and drove critical path tracking and expediting to meet assembly start dates.

I defined and drove all other China side preparation for first of type assembly.

I had absolute hands-on factory build management for a 100% Chinese workforce, ensuring this first-of-type turbine assembly was built and moved into factory commissioning.
